I reported this issue last year. There is an intermittent, disgusting chemical odor that appears and disappears in the area between
Covidien and Sims Metal Management. It smells acetone-based. Thursday night it was very strong and wafted over the highway as I drove home. There was enough smoke/steam coming from Sims Metal Management to obstruct vision on the highway (about 7:40pm). Not sure if they are related. I reported this to the State and to the Town of North Haven to no avail. Honestly, it smells like cancer. Ick.

Odor still wafting over the highway. Especially noticeable on foggy, rainy days when the cloud that hangs over the metal processing plant drifts over the highway. Target parking lot was especially bad recently, with people walking through the lot commenting on the smell and holding their hands over their faces. Charming. It is usually between exit 7 and 9 on 91.
