Description
There's a significant pothole in the west bound lane just west of Hearthstone Drive on Vanderbilt Pkwy, in Dix Hills. The Suffolk County Highway Department should not only fill that pothole, but send their workers to cruise the entire length of Vanderbilt between Commack Rd and Deer Park Avenue and repair all the numerous other potholes that dot the roadway. Moreover, why can't the county have more stringent standards for construction and resurfacing of our roadways? They're a disgrace! New England states have better road surfaces and they have harsher winters. The excuse is that we have more traffic. Yes, that's an excuse. The issue of more traffic should "drive" our elected officials to require better construction and repaving methods. If it costs a few dollars more for better methods it'll be more than made up for in longevity and decreased maintenance and repairs.
