Left turn arrow needed

If you're heading east on Forbes Avenue and want to make a left turn onto Woodward, it's really difficult to safely see oncoming traffic and make the turn. I've seen/almost had a lot of close calls here. A left turn arrow would be super helpful at this intersection.

  • We will need to administer a traffic volume study to determine if a left turn arrow is warranted at this particular intersection. In the meantime, there is an alternate route which you can take (Townsend & Forbes) which has a dedicated left turn arrow.

  • Thanks for the information. I never thought that the road should be widened to accommodate a dedicated turn lane. It's just that it is impossible to see the oncoming traffic from both lanes when you're trying to turn left from the left lane on Forbes. I figured adding a turning arrow to the existing left lane and giving cars an opportunity to safely turn before the light turns green on the other side would make things a little bit easier/safer during high-traffic hours.

    Road width at this intersection cannot accommodate a dedicated turn lane and traffic volume is too high to have one thru lane and one dedicated turn lane. Main St at Woodward Ave (the next intersection just south of this one) has a dedicated turn lane because road width is wide enough.
