Thanks, David, lighting is very important, especially in the winter when the nights are so long. I hope they get right on this. It's also a busy time for shoppers downtown, getting ready for Hannukah and Christmas.

The lights on the west side of church in front of Buffalo Wild Wings etc are privately owned and maintained. We will be out to inspect the lights on the east side of church between chapel and crown this evening. Finally, the globe lights on chapel between temple and college are out due to a broken conduit in the street, which UI is responsible for and they are working on a solution.

2014.12.18 I spoke with JCorp the leasing agents for several retail spaces on mid-Chapel [between Temple and College] and also for the Mall building (they are not the Managers). They promised to make calls related to both. We think that there may be a budgetary reasoning on the Church Street (cut elec. expenses) lighting, unless there is a lighting regulation by the Town. Is there?

I think this is a public safety issue and I presume UI has a deadline from the Town to fix this?

Sounds like you are getting a 'run around'. I admire you for your perseverance. Keep on, and I'll support you till it gets done. The lighting downtown, on both sides of the Green, east and west of temple street,, is important. It used to be that this area was bustling with activity.. to the library, shops, neighborhoods, theaters... the City let it go wayyyy down.

The company the New Haven OFFICIAL says is responsible for the timing, non-working, broken/missing pole lights on Church Street West side would be PMC Property Group (offices on 70 Church Street). 203-776-7770. The PMC receptionist I spoke to last night did not know the pole lamps were their responsibility. I request the Town contact them.

PMC is also responsible for the building sidewalk down-lights (the mall "underpass") at Church and over the Chapel Street sidewalk; Chapel Street none operating in the dark last night at 5:30.

FYI: The mall is subdivided into two parts, one owned and operated by the Omni (along Crown and Temple: Wine Thief, Barcelona and Omni entry side) and the other half (along Chapel and Church to Rite Aid) is managed by PMC.

I spoke to the Owner of a Crown Street shop about non-working (Omni) building lights there last night. He told me he would contact them. He also said his employees avoided Church Street to get to Starbucks, and instead walked Temple, because of poor to no lighting there.

We are delineating Street Lamp issues that are current and need the city's attention to resolve. Any issues prior to Dec 31, 2015 are being closed. If your Street Lamp issue still needs to be addressed, please create a new issue by selecting the Street Lamp service request in SeeClickFix. Providing a pole number and/or a more precise location is important. Once your issue is submitted, the Transportation, Traffic and Parking Department will acknowledge the issue and create a maintenance/repair work order.
