Three weeks ago I went to the Brewery Street PO to complain about this issue. I was told that Darryl Troxler (203-782-7011) was in charge of that matter, that he would put in a work order, and that the collection box would be back in place by the end of November. Of course, it is not. I have left phone messages for him 3X but he has not returned any of my calls. I went on-line to USPS.com and filed a Customer Service complaint but that has yet to get any response.
First they removed all the collection boxes in this neighborhood except for two, this one and one at Sherman and Chapel. Now another one is gone. They told me to simply leave my outgoing mail on my own mailbox for pick-up by postal workers but [a] they don't always take it, and [b] once someone stole my bill payment off my front porch and used my checking account number to pay for their cable bill and then shared it with other people. Luckily the bank refunded my money but I had to close that account. So I don't do that anymore and need a secure collection box for my out-going mail.
I know this is their busiest time of year, but when they arranged to have it removed for construction in October they should have arranged to have it restored.
I live in a complex on Whalley, our mailboxes are drop off only, our mail person does not pick up mail unless we file a request for pick up, we have to do it every time we want mail picked up and 90% of the time the carrier doesn't pick it up even with a request. I used to just run across the street and drop my mail in the box outside the substation. I also filed a complaint with usps, and was told to just leave the mail in my mailbox, even after I explained about our mailboxes being drop off only! Then I was told to bring my mail to a post office! Ridiculous!
Re mail theft - Brian, did they apprehend the thief? That is fraud and tampering with mail is a felony. Also, yep, depending on the carrier, one in particular never collected our outgoing mail. The rest have been fine about it, but one guy just REFUSED! I will make a call to Darryl.
I called the number Brian posted and left a message. People need to make those phone calls. Someone please contact Claudette and tell her to call them as well.
