Description

The homeowners remove the snow from their driveway, driveway entrances and sidewalks; then the plows come down the middle of the street and pushes all that snow to the curbs and driveways. The snow pushed by the plow is much heavier now and so harder to remove by shovel. I thoroughly understand the inability of cleaning out each drive. However, can they at least rethink this process. I know there are a lot of streets to be plowed but can you just put a little compassion into what the homeowners are going through. There are plenty of us who are unable to remove snow that was pushed there by a (how many ton) truck. Please review and have our tax dollars help the taxpayers not make it harder on them. Thank You

the solution is to get out and shovel again. when the snow is packed and heavy you have to use a smaller shovel. the exercise is good for you.

Duh! Thank you for such a mind-blowing solution. Obviously that will work for younger, stronger, healthier citizens. However, there are a lot of people with disabilities such as bad backs, heart and other physical problems. And lets not forget the elderly (like big government does). If these tax-paying citizens already pay someone to clear their driveways and sidewalks (within 24 hours, according to the law) then they really shouldn’t have to pay again because the city came through and plowed.

Thank God you are a healthy, younger, and person that can use a smaller shovel and exercise. So one can only assume this suggestion had nothing to do with you.

So what's your solution? That the city memorize all elderly and handicapped peoples' homes and clear their driveways after they plow? Come on, the city's job is to clear the road. There is no way they can direct snow out of every single driveway or they would never get the job done. This happens everywhere whenever there is snow, and there is no way around it. If you don't have a feasible solution, then you're really just whining.

If you can’t do it, there are two other options; the resident to pays for a private company to clean it or just do nothing. Only your sidewalk needs to be cleaned in 24 hours, not your drive approach. It takes the City three or four days to plow the streets. Would I like it done faster? Sure, but lets be honest, the money is not there and people don’t want to pay more taxes so you get what you get. Why should someone else pay (through taxes) more because you cant or won’t pay to have someone clear the snow? This whole issue is really silly. If you’ve lived in Michigan more than one winter you’d know that snow is plowed to the edge of the road. How else would you do it?

I've had two back surgeries and can still shovel the plowed snow in my driveway approach with my snow blower. The trick is to not do it all at once or do it immediately after the plow comes thru. Once the snow has time to melt in the sun it becomes harder to plow or shovel. It also helps if I shovel the snow from my approach out closer to the center of the street. My bigger fear is driving on icy Schoenherr after I get out of my driveway. Warren has streets cleared while ours are still a mess. We have two different county crews that do Schoenherr between Warren and Sterling Heights. Warren gets theirs done earlier so their school busses don't have to deal with the bad roads.

I live on E.Ten Mile rd. and I cannot say how frustrating the road snow is once it gets pushed back into my driveway. I have NO WAY of cleaning it myself. A resolution needs to take place!
