Street Sweeping in your area will occur on Friday, December 4 and Monday, December 8-weather permitting. Please pay special attention to the paper postings and move your car out of the street sweeper's way. Thanks!
The city needs to do a better job with posting signs. If I did not subscribe to SeeClickFix, I would have no idea that a parking ban will be in effect on Lexington Ave. on Monday. (I am waiting to see if the City calls residents to give notice, as its Web site says it will. Over the summer, those calls did NOT come.) If I had not seen the message on SeeClickFix, I would never have seen the signs that were posted--fair notice?!--sometime today. There are only 2 signs between Howard and East Grand along Lexington, one on a wooden post ear a tree, and the other on a tree. I'm sorry, but I fail to see how anyone think such signage is adequate or appropriate. Pictures attached. (Please take note and address the problem, Department of Public Works.)
Thanks for feedback. During the regular street sweeping season(April-October) we have been calling only the neighborhoods that are "Tag-Tow" areas in order to help residents to avoid tickets and towing charges and to maximize the street sweeping in neighborhoods that have narrow streets and congested areas with on-street parking.
These additional street sweeping weeks( Nov-Dec 12) are pre-snow operations and utilizing See Click Fix notifications is one way to ask residents to please move their cars. There was also one citywide telephone reminder at the beginning of this special street sweeping operation in November but it was not neighborhood specific. We'll consider that next pre-snow season. Signage reminders are another way so thanks for the feedback-we need to be more vigilant in that area.
We are closing street sweeping issues from 2014 so we can focus on street sweeping issues from this season. Issue closed. If you need to report another issue please submit to See Click Fix or call Department of Public Works at (203) 946 - 7700. Thanks.
