No! That's backwards! The finder does not identify the item.. the seeker identifies the item! The scam is that whatever the finder says it is, the seeker will say "yes, that's mine".
The best thing to do is to notify it to the Yale Police. Don't give it to them, but hold it. They will notify you if anybody can say they lost such an item and describe it.
Don't put the info here,, and tell CaptainKickStand to tell his friend to call Yale Police and describe the item.

Maybe I have fooled you? : ) Sorry for lack of clarity--I made the original post and the first comment, both on behalf of the actual finder.
In other words--if you're SEEKING a missing musical instrument, possibly left behind after loading a car on Elm Street, let me know.

OOOHHHH!!! My mistake! You are posting for the finder! Sorry, just that I've seen people claim other people's things before, and am a skeptic.
Let me see now... ummm I lost a violin? brown, about this big? or wait a minute.. it's a guitar! well, actually I lost both. Maybe you found one?
I have to say then,, I give you credit,, cuz you could have just claimed 'finders keepers', and I've seen a lot of that too. I hope yiou find the owner.. The owner may have reported it to yale lost and found.

It doubled as a funnel but if one blows hard into the small end that has teeth marks on it - It will sound like a baby elephant
