Description
The stretch of Northgate Avenue between 27th Street and West Grand is ridiculously dangerous. Cars exiting 980 routinely race through the intersections of Northgate & 27th Street and Northgate & 23rd Street. This puts pedestrians, particularly seniors and parents with kids, at great risk. Vehicle speed, as well as bends and hills, make it hard for them to see people crossing. There have already been many accidents and there will be a fatality if nothing is changed.
We need stop signs! This is inexpensive and will remedy the problem.
The City is well aware of this but has done nothing thus far. You can help get the City to act by doing three things:
1. Vote on this issue here (to increase its visibility)
2. Submit a service request through Oakland’s Public Works department at http://gismaps.oaklandnet.com/srwebsite/ServiceType.aspx. Selected “TE - Traffic Safety (non-emergency)”
3. Contact Lynette McElhaney’s office. She is the Oakland City Councilmember for the relevant district. Go here: http://www2.oaklandnet.com/Government/o/CityCouncil/o/District3/a/ContactUs/index.htm
The City has done a lot to encourage development in the area, which is great, but it needs to think about street safety too!

That's great. Thank you!
There is a huge increase in activity in the Kono, but it needs to be pedestrian friendly!
