All week trash bags and items are placed in front of vacant homes. Litter covers the streets from potato chip bags, solicitation flyers, drug dime bags, dog poop, etc. Adults to children throw litter on the ground and in the sewers. Alley ways are dumping grounds. Shopping carts are abandoned on the block and throughout surrounding area. Residents have grown weary from neglect and lack of city regulation. They say “why take my personal time to clean the block, it will only be dirty again tomorrow.” Landlords allow there tenets to pile up trash in back yards, dump in alleyways, and to run down their properties. I love my neighborhood but something’s got to be done in South Philly.
