This area is terrible - made worse by cars on Tryon Road passing individuals on the right who are trying to turn into the neighborhood. At the very least we need a NO PASSING ON THE RIGHT sign and proper enforcement.
I turn in and out of this entrance every week day, and strongly agree that a light would help. Also a defined turning lane for left-hand turns into the neighborhood.
Turning lanes on Tryon for both directions (turning onto Junction and/or Ileagnes) would be helpful. City Planners & Transportation should have addressed this prior to 600 homes going in and 600-700 more coming!
I've reported this before...they will just respond with standard boilerplate about not enough wrecks or volume...but it is extremely dangerous, now that the development has grown.
Since this was recorded on SCF in Garner's jurisdiction, it never showed up on our inbox. I've referred this to our Public Works Department. I will update this issue when I have heard back from them. If a recent study has not been done here we will undertake another one to see if the intersection meets the warrants for a signal.
This intersection is maintained by the North Carolina Department of Transportation. We have notified the District Engineer. NCDOT does not track See, Click, Fix inquiries. If you'd like to follow up on this issue with them, please call (919) 733-3213.
