Description
There has been an abandoned home sitting on a flatbed trailer for about 2-3 years now. It is in total disrepair and an eye sore, and who knows what lives in it. This has been reported to Metro numerous times, with no luck in having anything done. The house/trailer is actually on Mt. Pisgah Road, which joins with Bryce Road.

Hello...the violation you have submitted, the property address is 6140 Mt. Pisagh Road. The Codes RFS # is 09-1037976. Codes and Building Safety has been aware of this violation since June 9, 2009. The trailer with the home w abandoned and through Metro Research we were able to locate the responsibility parties for removal. It is unfortunate, but Codes and Building Safety has no jurisdiciton to remove such violaiton until legal due process has been given. We have issued notice, we have prosecuted the owner in court, and while unsuccessful, the City placed this structure on the bid list to be demolished and removed from the premises. Our present problem is that Codes and Building Safety has no funds for demolition and removal. This structure is awaiting availability of funds for demolition. If you would like to learn more about the status of this case, please contact the Property Standards Division at 862-6592, or you can also view the status online by visiting our website, which I have provide the link below.

Codes and Building Safety has and is doing all we can do within the legal parameters of the Code.

The trailer is a hazard. Someone call the health department, fire department.
How can the owner of the property be allowed to keep this?
The government excuse above is pathetic. Do we seriously think this type of situation would remain if this were in Green Hills?

I am sorry that you feel this way, but if you would like to contact our Metro Legal Department at 862-6341, they will be happy to explain the Code Of Laws to you, and what this agency can legally do on private property.
Again, we are not able to locate the owners of record as they have abandoned this property. Legally this agency can only give notice to the owner of record (name on the deed or trustee). This is why the City will be responsible for demolishing the structure once demolition funds are available.
