Description
When trying to take a left off of Commerce Drive on to Ushers Road the traffic coming off of the Northway ( north bound) takes a right on red and there is not a sufficient amount of breaks in the traffic to complete a left hand turn. There are two gas stations and several businesses including a Caterpillar dealer with numerous tractor trailers trying to get back to the Northway from commerce drive.

Linda,
While most people don't recognize it, the section of Ushers Rd from Pierce Rd to US 9 is actually a State Highway (911T). It is not designated by a Touring Route Number but NYSDOT assumed responsibilty for it when I-87 was built.
If you wish to pursue a request for a signal I suggest that you contact NYSDOT in writing to open up a "case". https://www.nysdot.gov/regional-offices/region1/contacts To the best of my knowledge NYSDOT does not monitor SeeClickFix.
However, please realize that the need for traffic signals is determined by a study which requires that certain "warrants" be met. http://mutcd.fhwa.dot.gov/htm/2009/part4/part4c.htm
My "gut feeling" from having made the left turn in question numerous times ( & with 42 years of transportation engineering experience) is that it does not justify a signal. A traffic signal such as the one you're requesting can cost in the range of $150,000 - 200,000. I addition there is the long term cost to maintain the signal. However, there may be the potential to improve the striping or signing at that location. The Regional Office will examine the location for a full range of solutions if you bring it to their attention.
