Description

I have noticed a problem with some of the traffic lights in Bangor, to put it in simple terms, the timers are set way too long!
The problem areas are 1- outer Hammond and Odlin
2- Broadway and Griffin
3- Broadway and State Street
4- Main and Union
5- Hogan and 95 off ramp
6- Union and Griffin
It appears that the traffic lights are setup for “rush hour traffic”, which only counts for 10% of the day, the rest of the time we the motorist are sitting a red lights for no apparent reason.
Question, who is in charge of the traffic lights? DPW or a outside subcontractor?
If it’s the department of public works (there already on the payroll) have somebody go out and assess the situation, if it’s an outside subcontractor tell them to fix the problem for free. (or we will get somebody else to do it)
It might also be a good idea to have someone oversee this project to make sure they do the job correctly and to synchronize the other traffic lights in concession and to keep traffic flowing (don’t just fix the lights in question)
This should be a simple fix at a minimum cost to the city, and would greatly reduce “road rage” and keep residence and visitors alike, in a happier and more cheerful environment.
