Description
Always trash and trash containers on the curb. Units are in ill repair including one boarded up, one fire damaged, two open to the elements. Pontiac should should have better standards for its property. There is a problem of who to cite because of the multiple owners of the units. This will require a political or governmental solution. Where is the dialogue that addresses the complexity of the issues that tie up process/progress? The poor conditions breed the drugs and crime that we find ourselves defined by.
About two weeks ago (first of Feb) the complex was cleaned up much to my surprise. Today there are a number of furniture bits and pieces on the curb. Let's see if it gets picked up tomorrow.

Dig up the Clinton River and spend more downtown, no more neighborhoods first.

He made promises that I don't think he can keep. I voted No. I wanted it to be demolished. Too often these properties get a band aide and a coat of paint. All this info is public information but I thought you might like to know the next Blighted Properties meeting is Aug. 14, 2013 at 5:00. It's an open meeting and the public can attend and if you want, you can comment on these properties. It's your neighborhood.
Check out Citizens Against Blight on Facebook. I try to post our list in advance and follow up with the results.

My crumbly sidewalk comment was never addressed - so I've got to get on someone about that.

Yes Rosshire is still on the radar. With the diminished # of residents the trash on the curb has been much improved. I believe there are about 5 of the 40 units that are "occupied". Just about all of the unoccupied are open to the elements. The reality is that at some point in time these units will be gone. The question is what happens to the property at that time. Current prices in Pontiac would preclude any new structures going up unless by some non profit using the tools of "community development".
It is not too early to have a discussion about the property with the buildings gone. My feeling is that it could become a community space that would improve the site and provide a focal point for that neighborhood. The vision of such a space prior to equipment coming in to tear things down could make the transition more efficient in terms of value to such a project.
