DBW: Here's the reply we received from the Fire Marshall's office - "Our office has been in contact with building management at this location. They have advised us that they have received approval to lock the two gates on the West end of the complex from a previous Fire Marshal. We have asked them to produce some documentation of this approval and are waiting for their response. In the meantime, we have been given assurance by the area fire inspector that the residents can still safely exit their buildings into an open courtyard area with access to several other gates that lead away from the area in the event of an emergency."
All but 2 units can, there are two units that if the fire is next door, they will be trapped. Could this be followed up again to see where it stands. thank you for your involvement.
Since we're just the middle-man here, you might want to reach out to the Fire Marshall's office directly, especially if you think there's a serious safety risk - you're welcome to call the Fire Prevention Division at 727-893-7064 and let them know the location and the situation you're concerned about.
If this issue is still not resolved please contact the City of St Petersburg, Mayor’s Action Center, https://seeclickfix.com/st-petersburg, for their review.
