I'm going to have to start taking pictures, and posting them here to prove what I am saying, and that the city refuses to acknowledge.

I do admit that the city has been out trimming "some" trees, but there are still glaring violations that have not been addressed, and many of the locations the city trimmed were not trimmed to be within code. It is ironic for the city to enforce this code on citizens, but not on themselves or any businesses.

Apparently, the city decides for itself which parts of the code are enforceable, and on whom. They also seem to decide which citizens are worthy of listened to, and which complains are worth their attention and response.

This is a code issue. Arvada has a policy of being "reactive" instead of being "proactive," but, even then, they are selective toward whom they 'react' to. People they deem unworthy, and unimportant, (which is usually anyone who disagrees with them), are not reacted to. They are ignored. On the other hand, people they value, (themselves, and those who agree with them), get special treatment. By special treatment, that means they are not required to abide by any code, and all of their code complaints will be reacted to. It is apparent that the city's policy of being reactive instead of proactive is more a design to allow them to be prejudiced, biased, and uneven in their execution of their duties than it is an actual policy design to serve the people.

NO, the city has done nothing to address this problem.

NO. This problem has not been fixed. If anything, the problem has become worse. The city seems to feel its laws, code, and ordinances only apply to citizens, and only where and when they want them to. The city does as it pleases in all circumstances while selectively choosing when it wants to enforce its code, and on whom.

This violation of city code has been reported both here, and with the city. It has been reported many times, and nothing done about it. It is clear that the city never intends to do a thinga about it. It is also clear that the city has no intention of using your site, either. Thanks for trying anyway.

This violation has been outstanding for 270 days, and that's the way it will stay until the city is good and ready to live up to its own code. Of course, if the trees in question were on the property of some peon, the city would be there like smell in an outhouse.

No change in the conditon of this problem. Why should the city care? It's only the law, and I'm only one person.

Nothing is ever done about these things because, apparently, the city does not care except when they want to.

This situation is similar to the situation all over the city. I don't even know why they have codes and enforcement, or at least as many as they have. As often as they enforce code, they could probably get by with just sending over regular officers, or attaching the duties to Animal Control.

No change. Problem not addressed. I am beginning to wonder why the city even has code, and code enforcement. There is little, if any, enforcement. I beleive they could save a lof of money by just dumping code enforement officers. Nothing would change except the amount paid out in salaries each month woud go down.

The problem is that Arvada is a "home rule" city. I recently learned that this means they "do what they want," even if that means ignoring state law, and uneven, unfair enforcement of their own laws. But, as long as they have the laws, and expect people to live by them, I will report violations. I guess it will always be up to them whether or not they choose to enforce those laws, and on whom.

It amazes me how incredibly ignorant City Hall is, but I think it is selecive ignorance. They can certainly see what they want to see, but there is no way they are going to see what they do not want to see. If they want to see a violation on a person, they will find a minuscule speck of dust, but, if they don't want to find a violation, they will be unable to see the elephant sitting in their laps.

I wish the city had a code enforcent unit, but they do not. I wonder what we are paying for?

The problem is rampant in this city, and almost nothing is done. Almost everywhere there is a tree, (even on the mayor's property), there is also the need for trimming.

Arvada code is only enforced when and where the city wants to enforce it. If you are the right person, and know the right people, you need not worry about code at all.

It's all over the city. I don't think Arvada has code enforcement anymore. I guess it's a FREE FOR ALL! WooHoo!

Issue remains open, and remains a problem throughout the city. Code Enforcement is reluctant to enforce code in most circumstances.

This is just a symptom of a much greater problem, and it will continue to be a problem as long as the city maintains its attitude about law enforcement. Change will not occur until the law is applied equally, and fairly to all.

No change, and not attempt at change. Citizens just do not matter in this city. The only thing that matters is what the city thinks, and that includes which laws will be enforced, on whom, and when.

I know the city doesn't ever read these, or even come to this site, but it makes no difference. The response would still be the same.

It angers me to no end the way agents of the city can see violations, and, yet, not see them. If the law is worth enforcing at all, why not enforce it all, and all the time? It creates more harm than it does any good when the city "decides" who shall be required to follow the law, and who will be exempt.

As long as no one reports you, the city is fine with any and all code violations. Even if someone reports you, and your neighbor has the exact, same violations, or worse, they will only come looking for you.

For all intents, and purposes, I have given up on this city, and ever thinking that law here exists for everyone. You would think the city would appreciate more community involvement, but they don't. They like to give the idea that they do, but, when it really gets down to it, they feel they neither need, or want any assistance form mindless citizens. Good God, imagine that? A citizen knowing anything? Please....

This will remain open until it is fixed. I want everyone who comes here to read, and know that the city is not paying attention, is not concerned about enforcing its own code, and thinks it can "interpret" code freely to mean whatever it wants.

I will keep this complaint open forever if necessary, but it has become apparent to me that the city doesn't care one iota about the law, or any of my complaints. They will do as they please whenever they please.

Problems still exists as bad as ever.

This complaint was first reported on September 9, 2014. It is over three years later, and not one finger has been lifted to address this problem, and enforce city code. That's a big, big problem in this city - not code here is enforced evenly, fairly, and honestly. If the city likes you, you can pretty much do as you please. If the city decides they do not like you, you cannot @#$% in public without getting a citation.

Does it occur to you that the city responds about as well to your website as they do to citizen complaints? Well, they do. Worst Code Enforcement in the Country!

As with most ordinances in this city, this code violation is only cited when code enforcement agents "feel" like it, and doing so won't allow their coffee to get cold.

The city will do nothing about this. I am not "important" enough to "earn" their attention. I could report violations all day long, and all day long Arvada would ignore them. Arvada does not think code is for enforcing except as "punishment" to people they do not like. They also do not feel that any citizen is really worthy of their respect, they feel they are "smarter" than most citizens, and they feel they are "above" most citizens. It's to be expected considering the level of training, and intelligence required for this job. Morons cannot be expected to suddenly become competent just because a city hires them.

When laws are not enforced equally and fairly on all citizens, they cease to become laws, and, instead, become persecution.

I certainly hope someone is watching these posts, and someone is paying attention I don't ever expect anything to be done, but I'd like someone else to know how futile it is for a common citizens to try to get law enforcement to do anything in this city beyond patting themselves on the back

I love being ignored by Arvada. It's a constant reminder to me just in case I ever came to feel that they actually cared about any, common citizen. In their minds, we are all just "plebes," or "peons" without rights, privilege, or authority to speak. And, they wonder why they have problems?

This is a problem all over the city. There are some streets where it is impossible to walk the entire length of the street without having to walk part of the way either in the street or on people's grass just to avoid branches in the face. But, I really don't expect the city to do anything, either. In the past when I have reported code violations, the city has called me a "nazi," asked, "Why do you want to bother those nice people," or told me there was nothing they could do; they were already doing everything they could. Nonetheless, I keep hoping someone at the city with a conscience, and with some respect for citizen rights will someday read one of these issues, and decide to address the problem in a positive way.

It is fitting that the city will "hold my comments for moderator approval." That fits their way of doing business. It is easier to block the comments and concern of a citizen than to do anything to improve the city. They don't even have to leave their desks.

I find that this is a problem all over the city. I can understand the city not wanting to upset homeowners, but it is just as upsetting for pedestrians expecting to use the sidewalk, and having to walk in the street to avoid being hit in the face by a tree branch. I really wish the city would get on this problem, and at least ask citizens to trim back their trees.

Yeah, this still is a problem all over the city. I hope someone is paying attention, and at least "asks" citizens to bring their trees into compliance. People need the streets clear for walking.

This post has been viewed nearly 1400 times, and it's been active for over four years, and, still, the problem remains. Instead of getting better, the problem has become worse. Tree branches hang over sidewalks forcing passersby to "go around," weeds grow three feet high in yards, and code enforcement thinks they are doing a fine job. I guess it's just a matter of perspective. I guess some people just think everything is okay if no one tells them differently.

This issue has neither been resolved, nor addressed.

It is very concerning that this is a "Tree City," and the city has plans for more trees lining certain roadways, but they can't keep up with what they have now. This remains a problem here, and all around the city.

Oh, yeah, this problem persists. I do not think the City cares one iota about fixing such problems. It's easier for them to ignore them, and imagine they do not exist, or to claim there is no problem at all. Of course, it would be different if any but a common citizen reported it because the city believes common citizens are as mindless as little children.

I sincerely wish the city would do more about this problem. If they would only advise people that their trees and bushes are in violation of code, I am sure most neighbors would comply. But, as it is, nothing is done, and there are many places all over the city where branches are blocking the sidewalks.

Now that the trees are getting their leaves back, it's only going to get worse.

It is interesting the way, and ways the city chooses to ignore the law, and anyone who would be so annoying as to report blatant violations. It is amazing how they can all choose to see only what they want to.

I am told the city doesn't even monitor this site anymore. I can see why. They'd never be able to catch up with all they have to do. The problem is still an issue.

Yeah, this is nothing new, and there is not sign at all that anything will ever change.

The city doesn't have the time, or the staffing to attend to these problems. Leave the issue open.
