Traffic on Crescent Lake Rd. has a dedicated green turn arrow, allowing left turns onto Highland Rd. It is illogical that cars waiting to turn right onto Crescent Lake Rd. from Highland should have to wait for a green light.

Waterford Police want this there, so they can give out tickets. It's not a safety issue. It's all about the money. It's always been that way in Waterford. They don't care if you have to wait, burning the gas we have to buy; Waterford police don't have to pay for there gas. The taxpayers (us) pay for it.

Because both Fire Station 1 and the police department are North of M59 on Crescent Lake, right turns on red are not allowed from west bound M59 onto north bound Crescent Lake. If a rescue vehicle was coming South on Crescent Lake and needed to get around a line of cars in the left turn and straight ahead lanes of south bound Crescent Lake, they would use the north bound lane. I would rather wait a minute for a green light to turn North instead of risk a collision and holding up rescue workers going to someone's aid. I pray whenever I see one of these vehicles with lights and siren that God would keep them safe and he send a guardian angel to be with whomever they are going to help.

I just go if the coast is clear. No cop, no stop.

As entertaining as some of your reasons are for the "no turn on red" sign, they are not accurate. It has nothing to do with the police and fire station being down crescent lk, or that the waterford police "want it there". However, it is true that m-59 has leading left turn arrows. This is the reason for "no turn on red". Do you know how many MORE accidents would be there if you had people turning onto Crescent lk rd thinking they have the right of way..when left turning traffic has the green arrow? BTW...police departments cant just put a sign wherever they want. Its alot more involved than that. Be Safe

Martin, Thank you for the information. I didn't think the police put up the sign willy nilley but that one of those studies had been done by whatever department does the studies and determined that a "no right turn of red was warranted". The police/fire departments on Crescent Lake seemed a reasonable explanation to me. Unlike the other poster who goes if there are no police watching, I respect the no right turn on red because as you pointed out there are factors I may not be aware of that make turning red on a red unsafe.
And to UR Losers (no cop-no stop) God is watching all the time and if you ever cause an accident by your actions, and it can happen, pray I am not on the jury because your excuse will not fly. We will all stand before the Lord one day and account for how we lived our lives. Disrespect of civil authority does not sit well with the Lord: see 1 Peter 2:13 Submit yourselves for the Lord's sake to every authority instituted among men:

Although I was told that the corner was going to be changed to a green turn arrow, that apparently isn't going to happen.
