Description
The stretch of Newton St. between Webster St. and the point where it joins Concord Ave is notorious for speeding vehicle traffic. The latest example I saw today was a taxi accelerating to full speed (~60 MPH) after turning from Webster onto Newton. Given the proximity to the Argenziano school, this needs to be addressed. It's a long-standing problem and local residents seem to have given up on getting the city to do something. In the short term there should be increased police patrols and speed enforcement. Longer term, this stretch needs a stop sign or elevated crosswalk. Spend a little time there in plainclothes/unmarked vehicle and you'll see what I mean.
