Description

Traffic turning left off Broadway onto 9th Ave and right off 9th Ave onto Broadway almost always fails to yield to pedestrians. MTA busses are the worst about this. To make matters WORSE, the city recently started allowing traffic turning off 9th onto Broadway to make left turns. It had previously been limited to right turns only. Now, pedestrians crossing Broadway have to dodge cars turning left off of 9th Ave. Also, traffic going east on Broadway almost always stops right on the pedestrian crosswalk, so pedestrians crossing Broadway who have the right-of-way have to dodge stopped cars as they cross Broadway. This whole intersection needs review and changes! Really bad situation recently made worse by allowing cars to turn both ways off 9th onto Broadway. Just ask anyone who works in the Federal building and has to cross that street in the morning or afternoon rush hour traffic. It's scary!
11/16/12 no improvements yet. Still scary to cross the street at this intersection.
