you should live in an area that has two crossings within an 1/8 of a mile and try to sleep at 3:00 a.m. or watch tv with the windows open in the summer when the engineer decides to lay on the horn the whole way before, through and after both crossings. narrows and maple in perry village
life is too short to stress out over occasional train noises. Our daughters were babies and we lived one street over from train tracks. We just got used to it....maybe a hobby would help
I love being the engineer of the train that goes past paully paul's house. I will lay on that horn like no tommorow just to interupt his sleep. You see the issue here is Paul, who was to dumb to see the train tracks, or he did see them and thought they were deer tracks. Now Paul want your tax dollars to pay for a sound barrier because he thinks I am to noisey. Mabye Paul would rather me not sound a warning and cause an accident, just so he can have quiet time. Kinda selfish of you huh Paul? Go move to Pepper Pike. My train dont go through there. (but my buddy truck drivers do).
The train horn rarely bothers me, we don't live next to the tracks, we live about a mile away. There is not that much traffic between the hours of Midnight to 5:00 am that the trains need to blow the horns for an extended period. I do hear from my wife how the trains have kept her up all night. I have heard them when I've been up during the night and they are very loud for as far away from the tracks that we live.
The law says the horn should be able to be heard 4 miles away. We live a mile away and can't really hear them with the windows closed. Houses are cheaper next to the track usually. I don't know what genius would put an expensive development next to the tracks and the apartments by Gilson. I have seen them put million dollar houses within 600' of I 77. People really need to think about where they live. Flood plains and the like.
I don't want it fixed. Without trains all the Chinese stuff that is going to Walmart would cost us more money. Those foam earplugs work pretty good. Ii am not being sarcastic there, try them. Sound barriers don't really work on the freeway either. Trees are the answer because of the frequency of the noise.
Trains themselves are such a low frequency that there is no technology that can eliminate the noise. Seriously it is time to move.

LONG LIVE THE TRAINS - AND THEIR NOISE !!!!! I wish we lived near some tracks, because I love the sound of them.
For anyone that DOESN'T, here is a cheap solution:
E A R P L U G S - or, sleep with someone who SNORES and @#$% all night !!!!!
Hey - where did my first message go? It was there - but now it's gone !!!! Anyway, as I was saying, LONG LIVE THE TRAINS - and their NOISE !!!! I wish we lived closer to some tracks !!!!
For those who don't love train noise, here are 2 solutions:
1.) E A R P L U G S
2.) Sleep with someone who snores and "fluffs the sheets" all night !!!!!!
