Description
In recent years the stretch of Whitney Avenue just north of Edwards Street where I live has lost a number of large trees on or near the street, and it is now more barren and shadeless than I have ever seen it since moving to New Haven several decades ago. Disease and storms have claimed some of the largest trees and landlords have removed others, while almost no new trees have been planted. I would like to see some new trees planted here that would help to restore some of the beauty and shade that we once had on this very public street.
Similar statements could be made about some other streets in the East Rock neighborhood, where a lot of the older trees have died and tree planting has not kept up with the losses or has not been successful.

They didn't know what types of trees they were planting, A line of Oaks might welcome another little Oak.
