Owner has increased service and that has been verified with private waste company. Also driver of company while servicing the alley has reported seeing tenents from the big building across the alley, after exiting their underground garage throw their bags with household garbage on top of their neighbors dumpsters . Tenants in the building have reported seeing the same thing on numerous occasions. Discussion are underway with building owner to either increase service again or get an additional dumpster.

No unless unless building owner see a tenant from another building or they get caught on a camera and the building owner files a police report,.....or I happen to catch another building dumping their garbage in a neighbor's dumpster I cannot Wright them a ticket ....on another person's say so.

Nick, Thanks for the followup! If we see such a situation we will photograph and share with the alderman's office and streets and sanitation so that the building owner can file a report. Other commercial buildings along Leland have locks on their dumpsters perhaps that would be an easy solution to the neighbors using the dumpsters as a drive through dump.

I live in the Parvenu (the large building in question). It may be true that some of the tenants are using the dumpsters, but the responsible owner for the dumpsters can prevent this by chaining and locking the dumpsters. This is a common practice.

I've just communicated to the Parvenu board that a communication should be sent to Parvenu residents to not use these dumpsters. Hopefully this will help with the situation.

Good idea Robert. Chains sometimes not helpful because people leave garbage on top. Could see that happening there.

After talking with the owner of the 1014 - 30 W. Leland building, he stated that he will do whatever he can to correct this garbage problem. He has increased his pick ups, and he has just ordered a second dumpster for this location and that should be delivered sometime next week. He will probably also get chains and locks after the second dumpster is delivered. If other neighbors stop dumping their garbage at this location, that should correct the problem.
