Tonight when I got home from work all the dogs (the mother and the 8 puppies that are left) were roaming around freely, barking and wreaking havoc in all of the neighbors' yards on the block. Then the large dog attacked a girl who was walking through the back alley. I and several other neighbors called ACCT, and after the attack, I called the police. Police came out about 25 minutes later and basically said there was nothing they could do. They called animal control as well. Finally about 2 and a half hours after the initial call, Animal Control showed up. They were here for about 2 minutes and then left. Really?? This is ok? We're just supposed to live with this?? The dogs are still in the backyard 24/7 and it still smells horrendous! FIX IT!!

The police did nothing after the dog attacked someone? Did anyone contact 311 about the nuisance house? Do the people who live there own the house? If they are renters, I would go after the owner. Did any one contact 311 about a nuisance house? There is a city code stating that poop has to be cleaned up even in your yard. Try contacting EFCC, they try to help with nuisance houses.

I'm sorry you have to live like that.

Claire Stilley - I called the PSPCA officer last week on Thurs before our dog park meeting so I could fill everyone in but haven't heard back. I wish I'd known that there'd been a bite and that ACCT was now involved - the Exec Dir Susan Cosby spoke at last night's EFCC meeting.
I'll follow up with both tomorrow. I just got off the phone with the investigating officer from the PSPCA. They went out and the dogs are all up to date on their shots, there's shelter (a dog house) and he said there were just a few puppies left when he went out. It doesn't rise to the standard of cruelty so the case is closed. On hold for ACCT now. Ok... ACCT has a file on it and they'll send an officer out soon. Someone with direct knowledge of the bite can and should report it to the Dept of Public Health. Here's a link to their brochure. So the bottom line is that the neighbors have to put up with the stink, noise, dogs in their yards and someone being attacked by a dog? You've got to be kidding!
