Description
Huge, heavy pieces of dead tree limbs have fallen onto the street and sidewalk on Hampden Lane (near Fairfax Road) in Bethesda. The most recent limb crashed with such force it shook our house and could have easily killed someone. The large elm tree is mostly dead; there are loose branches dangling at the top and the side limbs are diseased and hollowed. This tree must be removed immediately before someone is seriously injured or killed by a falling dead branch.

"Investigators said it appears the tree was rotten and gave way."
Why wait until tragedies like this happen before removing dangerous, rotting trees? Remove this tree on Hampden Lane, please.

A Howard County, Maryland, man was killed Saturday when a tree fell on him while he was grilling.
Emergency crews arrived at the 2800 block of Daisy Road in Woodbine after getting a call about a man trapped under a tree. The responders found the man who had fatal injuries. Three children were also injured from the falling tree.
Investigators said it appears the tree was rotten and gave way.
Two of the injured children were transported to Howard County General Hospital where they were treated and released.
The tree also caused extensive damage to four vehicles and the house. The home is uninhabitable due to a large hole in the roof.
The Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services chaplain and the American Red Cross are helping the family.
