Huntsville Traffic Engineering assigned this issue to Huntsville Police Department

Gallatin St. is not posted with “No Parking” signs therefore it is legal for this person to park as long as they are parking along the curb, 30 feet or more from Bob Wallace Ave., and not blocking any driveways. No vehs were observed parking in a way that is illegal. Officer will continue to monitor the area.

Thank you for checking on this problem. Yesterday at approximately 3:15, the car was parked in the same place and a school bus which was coming from the school and turning south on Gallatin (from Bob Wallace) could not get onto Gallatin because there was also a car in the turn lane (on Gallatin) waiting to turn on left onto Bob Wallace. The traffic light changed for the car in the turn lane to turn onto Bob Wallace but no one could go anywhere until the student crossed the street, in front of the bus, to get in the car that was causing the blockage. I understand there is a whole parking issue for Huntsville High but this particular area gets very congested and dangerous because people are not using common sense when picking up their students. Thank you for your continuing to monitor the situation.

Officers have been checking this area. They will be contacting Traffic Engineering and plan to have more “no stopping, standing, or parking” signs installed in the area.
