Age old problem...

This is getting worst and worst by the day and the short term DPD patrols have little to no impact. In no way I am defending the drivers, I am a runner and am frequently almost hit at the intersection, my observation is it is very difficult for the drivers to see runners coming from the Ashford Dunwoody side. Nardina is at a slope and the shrubery and small hillside blocks their view. Additionally, they are looking only to the left to see how quickly they can merge in. Regardlesss, the drivers should stop at a stop sign and look both ways. Perhaps a flashing pedestrian crossing sign may help.

I would also like to comment I've almost been hit a few times (walking or running) from cars turning left from Mt. Vernon onto Nardina. The concern is from both sides.

Regarding last comment about west bound Mt Vernon drivers turning left onto Nandina, one solution would be to better mark the left turn lane on Mt Verdon for left turns onto Chamblee-Dunwoody to prohibit lefts onto Nandina and install a series of vertical plastic "yellow pipes" down the double yellow line to prohibit left turns onto Nandina. Unless something is done, it is very likely that someone will be killed at this "cut through" street.
Another alternative is to make Nandina a one way, one lane South only street and move the lane over toward the east side of the current road to provide a better right turn view over the Methodist church corner. Plus, turns from Nandina onto Mt Vernon should be Right Turn ONLY. I have seen numerous close calls at this corner. The street needs to be reengineerer NOW before a fatality happens.

The county is planning to replace the water line in this area starting later this year. When that work is complete the city will be repaving the road and adding an island that will restrict left turns to and from Nandina at Mount Vernon. This will improve the safety of this intersection for vehicles and pedestrians.
