This has been going on for a very long time, years in fact. Nothing has been done about it despite some very spirited attempts by neighbors and other concerned residents. There have been multiple meetings and complaints made to everyone from city hall to the state liquor licencing authorities. Nothing has ever been done. The club does hire off-duty police so there may be a connection there that explains how this partying is allowed to go on in the parking lot after hours with impunity.

Has anyone tried to have a conversation with the owners of this establishment? Sounds like going to authorities has not proven to be an effective manner to deal with this nuisance.
It would be so much easier if club owners were made responsible for their patrons' actions, particularly when they occur right outside their establishments... Teaching people to be considerate should not be so difficult..

This has been going on for sooo long! Years and years. There have been meetings, neighbor complaints, complaints to the police, complaints to the Community Management Team, meetings with the manager, complaints to city hall, complaints to the liquor control authorities and on and on. Supposedly the Owl's Nest can not be held responsible for what happens in their parking lot after hours because the parking lot is not directly adjacent to their business property. Does that make any sense what so ever? It may be that the Owl's Nest has an invisible Teflon coating or something. Nothing sticks. Could be that they have powerful protectors at a level mere taxpayers are not able to access.

I am sick and tired of the loud music. Supposedly there is a noise ordinance in New Haven but it doesn't appear to be enforced in any way, shape or form. They often have bands and they are LOUD.

this place should be shut down!! The police have been alerted and have constantly done nuthing.Thiers druds being sold and used inside and outside and people haveing sex in the cars outside.What kind of Mayor do we have that dont not put a stop to this kind of thing im a tax payer and a voter and guess who will not get my vote this up comming election!!

It is hard to say what is protecting the Owl's nest.

We know for sure at one time there was an off duty cop protecting it hard and when I mean protect, I mean protecting its "right" to mess up the neighborhood with loud disorderly behavior. But, if Smuts is to be believed, the assignment of extra duty cops to clubs was changed so as to try to break up loyalty where one cop is always assigned to the same club. So is it still protected that way or not? I don't know.

Then there is the race card. This club plays the race card really hard. Until this club pointed it out, I had been oblivious to the race of the patrons - I really was. I was just upset at the behavior late at night from this club.

I know they still play the race card and I know some strong westville village leaders are defending the club for that reason -- (It is pure race paranoia as far as I can see because the opponents I know are not racist)

Aside from that, I am not sure what is going on. I recently had drinks there and danced there. I've checked it out myself.

I know the manager/owner guy is a tough cookie and seems to believe that because his security is so strong and he generally successfully prevents fights from breaking out inside the club (He throws them out on the street, you know, the street we live on), the neighborhood therefore has no basis for any complaint whatsoever. I also sized him up enough to know that he can not raise the game at this club -- it just isn't him -- so for him he probably just sees himself as being baselessly harassed by the neighborhood. He seemingly has no concept of quality of life beyond the fact that he stops fights from breaking out and has good security on site. That's his definition of success.

Beyond that, who knows.The club has by its teflon nature seemed to have developed a legend perhaps beyond itself for being able to neutralize opposition. I know some people are scared to poke at it again and I don't blame them.

It definitely was the case in the past that if you complained the cops made it clear you might be arrested but that was several years ago, under chief Ortiz's reign and under district Sgt. Reichard -- who as a captain or Lt was later forced into retirement by Chief Lewis for threatening to arrest a journalist for being a journalist (a favorite pastime of NHPD to this day -- the journalist threat thing)

All I can say is who knows and good luck! I hope someday it is a neighborhood club, not a destination club for both the owner and his patrons, many of whom, including the owner, don't care or don't know how to care about civilized society and the exponential factor it plays in creating community and business success.

Try complaining to the police again and ask that they police this parking lot at closing. It can't hurt to try and it's been a few police chiefs since the old way was in play, I hope.
