Where on City limits is it posted do you know? I have not found anything in the City ordinances either. I am glad it is not too high, but I feel that people should be made aware of this by the way of street signs.

Pretty standard rule all over the USA within any city limits, sorry to hear Terry that you didn't know and found out the hard way. "Back in the day" this was taught in Drivers Education class...hope the information is out there for others to know not to park overnight.

Not the end of the world, but lots of people are doing it and I think maybe there should be some more signs up to address the ordinance. I am not really sure why the ordinance is so, however, maybe for street cleaning?

Pure speculation here, but I am guessing the ordinance aims to discourage folks from making a habit of parking in the street overnight, so as not to give the impression that streets are an alternative to driveways. Snow removal is a reasonable reason too, but the city separately posts target snow removal schedules in times of great need. I did spend some time looking through the ordinances and could not find the relevant section. I guess the rule is just "common knowledge" for folks around here (said the guy who has lived in the area for 40+ years). Anyway, sorry about the ticket.

Not that I ever seriously accepted this as fact but as a kid I used to hear that the cars needed to be off the streets by 2:00 a.m. so that those leaving the bars could drive their way home safely! (This was back before drunk driving legislation was instituted)

I think, if properly enforced, having no parking between 2 and 5 would discourage (or at least highlight) abandoned vehicles.

Didn't there use to be signs at all the major roads leading into the city listing the parking hours? Are they still there and I just no longer notice them?
