Description
Cars are driving into the Taft Recreation Center to pick up or watch children practice. This is a pedestrian zone where cars should not be. When will the city act to keep vehicles out of the park? Once a child is hit?
Two nights ago there was a vehicle driving a lap on the track, with children all around for football practice, that is for walking and running.
Please keep unauthorized vehicles out of the entire park.

Thank you for responding in a timely fashion in this instance. I hope this is indicative of future action as well.
I have brought this issue to the attention of the ANC commissioner and MPD has been called during more egregious situations (though they just parked their car with the other cars. The issue was subsequently brought up with Commander Porter). It seems like the Taft Recreation Center falls in a grey area for a number of organizations when it comes to keeping vehicles out of the park.
The lack of parking enforcement does encourage vehicles to continue to enter the park. Parking enforcement has been requested repeatedly, with supporting images, for the past year. Looking through the 311 requests it only appears one warning was issued for a car in the park (badge 237/mm) and I don't see any tickets being issued. That warning was very effective though as it was given to a repeat offender who has not parked their car in the park since then (I commonly see it on the surrounding streets now). Please make the response times for dispatching an official quicker. Last Saturday there was a report filed at roughly 5 pm for multiple cars in the park and it was after midnight before it was investigated.
