I agree. I have been complaining about it as well on multiple occasions. I also opened up an issue as well a while back. Making this a flashing yellow light vs. a solid red should be sufficient. It is not that significant of an unprotected left turn since the visibility is so good. I have experienced a lot more left turns where it is worse than this one - for example, turning onto dilliard drive or athens drive off of tryon - both use flashing yellow lights to keep the traffic flowing.
