West Haven Public Health has posted signs (see attached photo) only from Grove Pier and west, declaring that the shore is closed to swimming and fishing, but no such signs are posted anywhere east, despite several fishing piers, a bait shop at East and Beach, and numerous access points to the beach. When I phoned the dept yesterday to point this out, I was dismissed, and a follow up email to the commissioner resulted in no changes. People are fishing and swimming on the shore, unaware of the health hazards!
