I suspect they are selling more than that- and between them and the bar next door they create a public nuisance. Trash, dumping, loud patrons at all hours of the night, parking lot parties, booming car music. The parking lot is not maintained or cleaned regularly.
Don't be surprise if the store owner has been alerted because of these posts and now will either cool it for awhile or will be more careful who he sells to. This is not a private site anybody can read it. Using the phone is better in situations like this.. When in doubt call the police 203 946-6316.
The owner has been arrested various times. He just gets out and keeps selling. He does not even need to get out he can have someone else sell. What is needed here and elsewhere in New Haven is a change in policy and fines that create an economic disincentives. This is where our alder(s) can intervene in a way that has significant impact on the quality of life of their constituents.
Thanks! We should ALL call Mr. Barrios-Bones and other nearby aldermen to address this issue ASAP! His phone number has been generously supplied above....
WIth regard to the problems of illegal cigarette sales and other issues surrounding Grand Avenue Smokers' Market, New Haven Police and CT Department of Revenue Services are investigating and have made arrests.
