Description
Tunnel Rd is a very popular route for bicyclists, and while most drivers are very courteous some still insist on passing while in a blind curve, with no idea as to whether and oncoming traffic is right around the corner. Just yesterday the driver of a large dump truck barreled past me a high speed into the oncoming lane, and was very lucky that nobody came around the corner at the same time.
The rangers at Mt. Diablo State Park are dealing with this same issue by putting out "Do Not Pass On Blind Curves" signs (more info at http://www.contracostatimes.com/ci_23880559/danger-mt-diablo-new-messages-aim-stop-bike), and this sounds like a reasonable reminder for Tunnel Rd as well as other curvy bike routes in the Oakland hills.
The issue is most significant in the uphill direction where there is the largest speed differential, and so I suggest a sign at this specific location on Tunnel Rd, although many other locations would also be appropriate.
