So, where are we in this town...as far as playgrounds and parks go ? Would these stairs be approved by the Dept. of Public Safety ? Do we still have anything close to a Park Department ? This began back in July ; during the Sports season and was not noticed ? We've got Sports Fees, Drama Club Fees, Rental Fees, Passport Fees, Kindergarden Fees, Special Ed door to door fees; Millions of Dollars of Debt fees including new Furniture and Lounge equipment, School Rentals, and tons more...some 40 Million in 'Other Receipts', and we can't afford 'Stairs'...But we can afford 'Free Rent' or $ 1.00 per year to rich business people.. Go Figure...
On July 30, 2014, the DPW wrote they would prepare a Cost Analysis to repair these stairs. And since then , not even a polite sentence came back on that stated action. This would be a good question to ask at Town Meeting on June 8. If you have the estimate then, perhaps we can offer an amendment on getting a few dollars in this whole area for God's sake !... It's a M E S S !!......' Frank Pignone'
I heard David Ragucci saying the stairs are coming down and soil and grass will be there. Don't you feel it would be a proper 'thing' to do out of courtesy for the people writing on this blog as taxpayers and citizens about this 'finality' and 'when' it is planned ?...The comments from our Government began on this back in 2014..... Why don't you assign this to the Voke.. If a youngster chases a ball in the air here and gets hurt , I hope they sue...Many of us played there.. .and this town for decades seems to have a policy of cutting the budgets that give no lip or union forces, and people who don't fight back... Let us put an end to this black era.... and move out into the Light in this community...and on the Site Plans also...which we need five or six versions... to get what they wanted to in the first place...."Light' is a wonderful thing isn't it ?...You bet...

How can you close an issue before it is resolved? If these stairs ever get repaired or torn down there are two other sets of stairs that will need attention too. The problem here is we have no maintenance schedule on anything. Things are addressed when they are in deplorable condition. Why was a basketball court erected with new fencing before these stairs were repaired? These stairs are a safety issue and yet ignored. What will it take to fix the issue, someone falling down and getting seriously hurt?
Allow me to 'prophesize' for a moment to say that I 'now' believe in time that this issue or these ( issues) shall be resolved by someone 'else' who may care and pay attention far more than those who 'would not'. Patience... is 'King'.
The new Recreation Dept. Should be taking over the fields and parks with all the money the DPW has been funded with in the past. The Recreation Dept. should also be managing the maintenance of the Parks with the correct and 'effective' power under the Board of Selectmen.
This issue keeps popping up every so often to ask if i would like to close it, but I can't because it has not been resolved. We are coming on 2 years and it is inexcusable. This is a definite safety issue and it will stay open until it is resolved.
Kathleen, You are correct in not wanting to close this issue until it is resolved. I find too often that people managing the town Affairs hope that people will get fed up and go away. Hopefully there are some changes coming to the town that will address fiscal responsibility. There is no reason that the budget cannot afford to fix issues like this. Unfortunately, as it is now, there is little or no accountability for where some of our excess tax dollars go. I'm sure there will be some pushback come election time against those who want to have this type of fiscal responsibility. But looking at issues like those stairs should make it clear that things are not working out in town as they should.
You are so right on wanting 'Updates' Kathleen'.. Well, they've just begun and there are going to be more 'updates' in the next year I am sure. The Kind that this town 'really' needs.
Kathleen: I 'prophesied ' that 'one' of the ' neglectful' people/ Admins. would be 'gone' due to this 'attitude' and one 'is'......I am also 'prophesying'. that 'another' one..' Will Be' heading for Pasture also... Sooner or later ...the 'arrogance' in this Town will 'get the message...
