Thank you for posting this. I couldn't agree more. very annoying when you go to click something and the page is slowly creeping up or down because I need to be told about some Cash for Gold ad. Is there actually news in here amongst the plethora of ads.

How can I read the news when every 2 seconds a new advertisement pops up to interupt me? Get rid of them.

As I was clicking on this issue - a Perch Fest pop-up appeared and I could NOT get rid of the thing. Found a tiny 'x' to close in the lower left hand corner. David, your point is well taken.

I HATE THIS WEBSITE!!! I wish there was anything else I could look at for news about this area. The pop-ups are a joke. How much more un-professional can you get? One page on this site has more advertisements than an entire section of the paper, and that's saying something. The NH has gone downhill faster than I ever thought it would. Just close the doors already. You are a laughing stock and too frustrating to deal with!

This is truly HORRIBLE!!!! I can't read the news without that dang pop up... and it comes up with EVERY PAGE!! A little ridiculous!!!

Then, when you click to close a popup another ad pops up!! There is no excuse for this!

Way too many popups....AND tried to check the obits, this morning ,,(to make sure I was still here,)..and got directed to some other site....

I ABSOLUTELY AGREE!
Way too many pop ups.
And whomever came up with the idea that clicking close on one pop up
should open another one is just out right insulting the reader.
And if by some miracle you do get to an article to read it,
clicking the back button to try and look at the main page again,
restarts all of the pop ups all over again.
RIDICULOUS!

I had the same problem.... I wasn't there either, but a friends mom was :( , but it's really bad that the obits were redirected.

What are you all using to browse the internet, Internet Explorer? I read the NH site every single day and get a single popup maybe once a week. The problem is on YOUR end. It's not 1999 anymore where using IE is acceptable. Get Chrome or Firefox and the problem goes away without making any changes. It would take you less time to update to a decent browser than it would to type your complaints on here.

I'm using Chrome. And YES, the problem is this website...from the full frontal assault of their wallpaper, to the ads that unfold (downward) on the homepage, to the banner at the bottom, to the "get the latest updates" pop-up, to the stupid fish fry pop-up.

It's in their master plan. Fewer people are getting the newpaper delivered, so make the website unbearable, and people will go back to home deliverey. Doesn't matter that most days the papers are late, if they arrive at all. Let's not forget the wet ones...always fun to read. When you call to complain, you find out that they have now outsourced the cirrulation department. Such great ideas! Makes it hard to keep up with the local news.

Does ANYONE at the News Herald care what READERS think about this website? You have a right to run ads, pop-ups, wallpaper, etc. But does anyone realize that the ads have completely RUINED any enjoyment to be derived from this site because they in effect make it IMPOSSIBLE to read anything without something else (ads, pop-ups) getting in the way. It's like trying to read the paper while someone's CONSTANTLY tapping on your shoulder to get you attention. Someone else had commented that it's the fault of those who use IE, and that we need to update our browsers. Does the that reader realize that this whole ad-frenzy is what has gone by the wayside because people HATE it? It's been years since I've visited a website that is so insistent that you read the ads. It's like it's still 1998 here. Very backwards. And not at all clever or, I would imagine, effective. If low-rent is the image you're shooting for, NH, you've arrived.

The News-Herald website is horribly annoying - one of the worst out there! What is wrong with you NH - get rid of the pop-ups which make your site terrible! Your paper has gotten worse - you cut down on the size, its full of car ads and barely any news.

in just 3 clicks i receved 8 pop ups. annoying. can not read with out a pop up. are they on timmer mode? seems like every 15 sec. a new one.

I used to have the paper delivered, but the LARD A*S carrier could not get it to me on time to go to work. He claimed it was the papers fault not getting to him on time. Funny The PD drops off the paper no later that 5AM. I still TRY to look at the website to get some local news and all I get is bombarded with this user unfriendly web site. Hello NEWS HERALD! you are dying a slow death due to your poor managment of your web site. FIRE the 14 year old nintendo freek webnonmaster! and tone the web site down. Your delivery price, content, late delivery time is killing you. Unemployment is in your future unless you figure it out SOON!

Complain about the News-Herald's website and the ... they delete will delete all posts! I suggest that we anniy them the way they annoy us- send them an email and tell them how bad you hate their site... these folks have the power to fix it! They need to listen to the voice of their customers... or risk losing them.
Maybe we email their advertisers and ask them to consider alternate marketing channels or risk turning off customers with their association to the News-Herald. We can show them the power of the web with a campaign of @#$% off people is more effective than their annoying pop up ads...

There are alot of ads on the news-herald site. Every site I go to now has all these ads. If it weren't for news about lake county i wouldn't go to it. frustrating but still the best way to get local news.
