Description
People routinely blow all 4 STOP signs all the way down Alexander Ave from Township Line doing an average of 45 mph (timed). At the intersection of Marvine Ave and Alexander Ave, almost no one even attempts to stop in any direction. Do we really need someone (perhaps a child) to be killed in order for something to be done? 2 schools are with in 2 blocks of this location. I would love to see speed humps installed - which have worked in other areas. I would even let police park in my driveway (very near the intersection) to nail these careless drivers - most of whom are on their cell phones. One day's tickets could solve any financial woes in UD. It is really scary how dangerous this intersection has become.

As I exited my driveway for work this AM, I observed a young blonde haired woman in a black sedan blow the 4th of the usual 4 stop signs in a row doing about 40 mph through the15 mph zone - just as I have seen her and others on many mornings do the same.
Today I beeped my horn to get her attention as she was now speeding through a school zone - much to the horror of the crossing guard stationed there as well - who also waved her STOP sign in an attempt to get the driver's attention.
I must admit that I was impressed by our heroine's ability to give us the middle finger while taking her cell phone from her ear in one smooth motion. This would lead me to believe she was perfectly aware of what she was doing and knew there would be no consequences for her careless and dangerous driving.
I was then reminded how unimpressed I continue to be by the lack of any police presence in this dangerous traffic area - especially as the school year now begins.
Although the story told may seem unique, this type of stuff happens EVERY DAY. Perhaps a "Do Not Enter" at the top of Alexander Ave (Township Line) between 7AM-9AM and 4PM-6PM might help. Or maybe just a police officer parked at Alexander and Marvine for a few weeks.

Update: It has been nearly 3 years since this issue was first reported, and guess what??? NOTHING HAS CHANGED. Believe me, I look every day and have seen exactly 2 cops staking out the location in 3 years... and both have been on the first day or two of school. I'm sure some of our "finest" could change cut their "back parking lot opposing-car conversations" that I frequently see and perhaps spend a little time on an issue that we are paying them to care about.
I watched a family with a stroller out for an nice evening walk about a week ago narrowly avoid disaster as a car blew the usual 4th STOP sign in a row at Alexander & Marvine (right by Aronimink School). Someone will get killed or seriously injured there - I wish I was wrong.
FYI - Videos of what I have been describing will soon be uploaded. Stay tuned... if you care.
