this stuff is still going on. every day they are working on two or three cars and they are the same ones that they have been working on for the past few months. and there is always trash all over the place. something needs to be done.

Jenny - really? The trash is obviously something to be addressed but so what if they are working on the "same cars"....which is evidence that its likely their own cars and not someone elses. If its in THEIR driveway, and not on the street, leave them alone! At least they are working on them to get them to run and not just sitting there in disrepair. I know what its like to have cars not working and not being able to afford to have a garage repair them. In this recession, its likely going to happen a lot. Give them a break, ha?

(2) Yes, it is many of the same cars, but they are being worked on either as a hobby or as a business, because it is a large number of vehicles, many of the same make and model, coming back repeatedly. It's not their own cars. The cars also have modified exhausts and are extremely loud as a result. No question this is a nuisance. I can hear these guys and their cars from two blocks away.

Well get the story straight please. Above it says "in their driveway", not just once but twice! Regardless of what kind of cars they are, the reason or what not - Its their right IF its "in their driveway". Hobby or or their own. If its clearly a "repair shop" going on, then address the issue with Code Enforcement.

Cleanliness definitely should be addressed though. No debate there.

While I sympathize with the noise and mess in an otherwise quiet neighborhood, I would love to see someone fund this guy for a small startup business elsewhere in New Haven! Where else can you find a good mechaanic that works at all hours in any kind of weather at an affordable price???

i understand that it is in their driveway and that they may be their cars but the same exact cars for four or five months now? come on. seriously. the house is disgustiing with trash and toys all over the place and there are oil spots in the driveway that stain the sidewalk. the doors are always open and they don't seem to care what their house looks like.

As stated, yes, the cleanliness is definitely something to be addressed. I DONT disagree.

As far as the cars, sorry, thats their right and should be no business of yours unless the repairs are late in the evening and causing a lot of racket. Next we are going to start deciding what color houses people can choose from.

Just reported this again. The comments below are missing the point: these people are not just in "their" driveway-- they are on the street, often blocking cars from passing, there is an unbelievable amount of motor oil everywhere and it is a constant stream of DIFFERENT cars. The bottom line: this is a RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD. It is zoned as such. If you want to have a business- super. Just do it legally and in a designated area. Also, there is absolutely NO question that the constant stream of different cars are NOT their personal automobiles. In fact, I have watched someone pick up their car, pay the people cash and drive away. What do we have to do to get this to stop???????

The house has been fixed up and is under better management.
