Music City Raceway is getting out of control. When I first moved up there, 27 years ago, knowing the track is noisy, it was only on Saturday nights. I realize the track has changed hands so all agreements are off. This past week the track ran Monday, Tuesday (Motorcycle race) Friday and Saturday nights and sometimes on Sundays. When the Jet cars run, you have to leave the hill. The issue is, our quality of life up here is really compromised since none of us around the neighborhood can be outside, work in our yards, have company over to our house except Wednesday and Thursdays during the week. Since this is a money making situation, common sense would say, the track should build a sound barrier similar to what is around the interstate. We know the track is going to run, they have more money than we do. You can hear the track more than 10 miles away and they run sometimes up to 1:00 in the morning. Next door neighbor has a 6 month old and I know, they get no rest with that baby. Just some kind of wall or sound barrier to help deflect the noise. I'm sure they don't want us to make them put mufflers on their race cars like the fairgrounds track had to. Just be fair about the situation, and we don't constantly want to hear the loudspeakers, tires squealing, engines roaring and the ever fragrant smell of tires burning, and blue fog hovering. Keep it all over there on them.

Dear MrOvious - if you actually read the first post before you commented, you would realize that it has become an increasing problem in the last several years. Having been one night a week, to now as many as 4 nights.
I don't live there, but it seems the traffic alone would be a nuisance. Those people make enough money. Surely they could afford to buy property in a more commercial locale.
Perhaps something near the interstate would even be good for business. How many casual spectators even know about this track?

I am seeking a solution to the constant horn blowing at Chestnut Street and 4th Avenue South, new and old housing district and I am prepared to seek whatever
solution to this "EXTREME" horn blowing of the rudest railroad system I have
ever experienced. I grew up in this same neighborhood and it was owned by
L & N Railroad back then, it don't ever remember it being so noisy, and then
there's the shakedown that the train does. It affects peoples health and well-being
Please help us to get back to a quieter neighborhood, there is a walk track there
but most people don't care to walk as much, due to the noise that may come at
any given moment, this train will come and just sit there, then all of a sudden it
starts, and it usually lasts for 20-30 minutes. I pray every day to get out of this
neighborhood, it drives my family when they come "Bonkers". Everyone at Metro
Action talks about this train. If anyone knows how to go about this please send info. Thanks!

Catching up with this since we are looking at property up there. Mayor Daily years ago didn't like an airport in downtown Chicago, so late one night "someone" blew up the runway. No more airport.
Not saying anyone should do this, but it is a solution that has been used by big city politicians to solve noise "problems". Or the owners can realize that they have an albatross that might get it's wings clipped if they are proactive.

Exemptions can not be designed to allow others to take your quality life. Sleep is essential for everyone's day to day functioning.
The air quality around the track is going to have long term affects on all those who live nearby. The rubber flakes float in air and drift for miles. The burnt fuel is also a health issue.
The noise pollution is as bad as and sometimes worse than the air pollution.
The Exemption should be revisited every year in order to insure all county residents are considered equally.
When the Exemptions were given the amount of people who were affected was much lower then it is now.
Please join together to stop this insanity.
