Description

I think that anyone who lives in a sub-division can attest to the fact that the Home Owners Association for their community are mainly a bunch of bored housewifes with nothing better to do and think they can become an authority figure by becoming a member of the HOA. Lake Park's HOA has such a bad reputation that I know people who have sold their homes and moved from there and friends that wouldn't consider living there because of that well known fact.
I live in the Colton Ridge community and we have the same problem. Last month the HOA passed a "resolution" that there could be no plants in the area between the sidewalks and street higher than the mailbox. That is okay and even makes sense however I have crep myrtle trees that were planted in that area when my home was built. They are full grown and are beautiful at this time of year. I got a "citation" from my HOA today stating that the crep myrtles had to be cut down. I have been in this community for five years and a part of the reason I bought this house was because of the wooded lot and trees.
I know this is going to turn into a battle between the HOA and myself and will problem end up costing me a bundle.
The see, click, fix factor here is this: When does the authority of the HOA end and common sense prevail or do we have to live with these zealots supposedly "enforcing" the rules as they interpret them and passing new ones alone the way?
