cars coming down platt st to the stop sign where you meet elm st. stop for only a second and then go.when i am going from elm to jewett st in my car or on my motor cycle there is no stop sign when going by the police station . many times a car coming down from platt st will cut you off.you have to be careful even when you use your signal light. there should be a stop sign on elm st too.

If I am not mistaken Elm is a State road, so the state would need to address this.
That said, I am normally headed up to the top of Platt and have witnessed this problem. Cars coming down Platt to that sign in front of the Police Station do NOT have a clear view if a car coming up the hill intends to turn and pass in front of the Police Station to Jewett. The curve in the road makes it hard to see someone with a signal on that may be 2-3 cars behind those going up the hill.
I have see people dart out from the stop sign many times and almost clip someone who has right of way to enter Jewett.
However, I fear a stop sign on Elm going up just for those who may want to turn left to Jewett could make matters worse. Then drivers doing uphill not expecting to have to stop could slam into each other. Only a small percentage of traffic on that road is headed to Jewett, most proceeds up Platt.
I've learned to be VERY careful if I intend to turn and turn on my signal early. If I am hit, the police are steps away and its totally the other driver's fault.

This intersection as a whole is a problem. Odd that it would sit right in front of the Police Station. Cars also come down Platt and often don't stop or roll through the stop sign before entering Jewett.
This has to be addressed at several points... but how since some of the roadways are state and some are city owned escapes me.
