One thing that drives me absolutely nuts, especially when I used to drive semi up and down second avenue, was people dont signal, pull to the right, and then make a turn. There is plenty of room, signal, shoulder check, PULL OVER, then slow and make your turn. Key words here, pull over, then slam on your brakes.
This is the order it seems to be for a good portion of our drivers, slam on your brakes in the lane you are in, then pull over just enough to tick me off, but not enough to keep traffic flowing, then make your turn. Do we need more drivers ed? Police usually wont pull someone over for this, but it causes accidents.

There is more traffic in PA now but the lights on streets like 2nd Ave and downtown on Central just aren't in sync so that traffic can move smoothly. Often you end up stopping at each light. Many drivers are speeding or weaving through traffic to beat the next light. Another problem is drivers who take their time getting going when the light turns green which means fewer cars will make it through.

I agree 100% about the lights not in sync. This was/is a big problem for the big rigs also, having to start and stop that big load 10 times through the city, that is often why you find them slowing down for a red light 2 blocks ahead of time so they can compensate for the poor sync of the lights and prevent coming to a complete stop. Saves wear and tear on the vehicle, and prevents accidents when everything flows.

Trucker Pete I know how you feel but many of the drivers in PA have never driven anything bigger than an econo box so they don't understand how jumping from lane to lane and slowing down in a busy lane affects the trucks. It's worse for the bikers as many will just cut them off or almost run them off the road because they are not paying attention enough to notice a motorcycle. Driving in PA is always a challenge since most either forgot how to drive properly or just don’t care.

I also agree. In fact, UMA Engineering Ltd. prepared a study in 2008 for Highways and Transportation and the City of Prince Albert. The study pointed out many intersections with poor levels of service (LOS), and recommended timing and synchronization adjustments of traffic lights to improve traffic flow. The intersections with the lowest LOS (poorest rating) during afternoon peak periods were 2nd Ave at 15th Street West, and 6th Ave at 15th Street West.

How much money and how many studies will it take before they get things figured out? Maybe they think a 50 year plan means that they have 50 years to make any improvements.

Correction: I meant 6th Avenue and 15th Street East.

People complain about Saskatoon drivers. Those are people who have never driven in PA. Some of the most simple rules of the road are ignored. Here's one: When you are in the left lane turning left, you turn into the left-most lane. Watch at the next red light you are at. Half will turn into the right lane. Yeah, a full half.

Another thing that I can't believe that I have to complain about: Drivers who stop in the middle of the road. Not just any road, but major ones, like 15th Street. And not at an intersection, but right in the middle of the road for no legitimate reason. What are you doing, answering your cellphone? Then pull over first.

If that's you in the right-turning lane going straight and hoping to beat the car in the proper lane across the intersection when the light turns green, stop it! There are people behind you that can turn right on the red if not for you plugging up the turn lane.

And park your car and go into the Tim Hortons. You'll probably get served faster anyway.

I am new in PA and Saskatchewan but the first day i got here I realised how bad people drive here. Drivers don’t have time to even allow pedestrians to cross roads when they have the right, drivers change lanes anytime, anyhow and will not even indicate. Un necessary speeding even close to play ground where they are expected to do 30km/hr. May God help us all. KB

PAPD needs to start nailing speeders and red-light runners, mercilessly. Those are the idiots who put all our lives at risk.

I relocated to Prince Albert last year. It did not take me long to observe the over-represented amount of horrible drivers in PA. There is not one occasion where I have ventured out where I have had a pleasant driving experience. If you're not driving behind someone who didn't signal when they cut you off, than you're driving behind someone who is slightly swerving and going 30 km/hr in a 60km/hr zone. I do not understand why PA has such an alarming rate of uncareful drivers. I completely understand the post below about PA Police needing to focus on the traffic laws. However in this city Police have no choice but to target the large amount of illegal activity. There are a large proportion of citizens who have displayed disregard for criminal law. What makes us think they'll obey minor legislation like the Traffic Safety Act? I have also had enough of the careless and lazy people behind the wheel in this city.
