Why does public day-long inebriation and open hard drug dealing get a blind-eye from the police and city services at this intersection, but not in other areas of the city? When did this area become exempt from code and law enforcement? When was that voted on?

feel free to call the SFPD and ask them what their official definitition of 'containment zone' is and then ask when 16th and mission was designated as one and then ask if it will ever NOT be a containment zone.

seriously, the plaza was covered in @#$% again this morning. it's a health risk as well as disgusting.

MCA - please go back and read what others have said about a containment zone and the futility of reporting quality of life crimes at this location - every day there is drug dealing, public urination, public drinking, harassment of passers by and illegal transfer/late night selling. EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.

Everyone knows what goes on here. Nobody does anything about it.

We’ve got the same @#$% going on at Stevenson/Duboce! Every day camps are set up. We report, call, tweet and nothing is done to prevent it to begin with! The open use of drugs is seen, there’s human feces, trash everywhere.

16th st is bad. its now 7/25/13. not sure when you posted? any improvements?

I used the 16th street Bart station the other day. A ragged man threw a broken bike lock into the air. I walked in to take a closer look and asked to take a look at the lock. I asked how it happened and he claims to have broken the lock with his muscles. (Doubt that) I then go downstairs and talk to the Bart sttion person. She says that bikes get stolen all the time and "it happens more often than not." Her excuse was that the bike rack was too far away from her to monitor. I want these guys out from my neighborhood!

Let's be clear here that *some* (not all) homeless people do things like steal bicycles, urinate in public, use drugs in public, etc. Statistically, homeless people are probably more *likely* on average to do these things, because they are generally poor and don't have homes.

But this doesn't mean *every* homeless individual is guilty of them, or deserves to be tarred with guilt by association, any more than *every* housed person is an entitled snltcher who is eager to sic armed government agents on anybody whose behavior annoys them.

To the person who asked why this post was flagged as inappropriate, I wasn't the one who flagged it, but I'm guessing it likely had something to do with the title.
