Description

I appreciate the extension of the Lansing River Trail to the south. This will be a great addition to our recreational assets. Here's another idea that would connect two recreational gems: the LRT and Fenner Nature Center. Right now, only accomplished cyclists would feel comfortable riding from the River Trail to the Nature Center. The solution: add sidewalks and signalized crosswalks at the intersection of Mt. Hope and Aurelius. The sidewalks should extend east and west on the south side of Mt. Hope from the current LRT crossing to the nature center, and north and south from the LRT on the west side of Aurelius to the intersection. This would allow families riding on the River Trail to take a quick side trip to the nature center. It would also help the city in its goal of achieving complete streets.
