What is it about the people in Oakland that makes them think it's OK to dump furniture anywhere? Perhaps it's just that I'm made more aware because of SCF? Either way let's have some respect for your city, your neighbors and yourself!

I think people want to avoid hiring a job truck and paying dump fees. Maybe they can't afford it. They see that the city does pick up their mattresses and sofas, so they continue to dump. I also know there are unscrupulous haulers who are hired to take stuff to the dump, but dump it on our streets instead. Some building managers also dump stuff from evicted tenants onto our streets. People see one dumped item and think it's okay to add to the pile. One mattress quickly becomes 5.
