Description

The amount of bicyclists who disregard traffic laws and safety in and around downtown New Haven is downright scary. Today I was nearly run down by a cyclist who not only ran a red light but also ran right through the crosswalk while I was in the middle of crossing - to be clear I had the walk signal and hence the right of way. I see this kind of blatant disregard for law, life, and limb happening more and more. I'm not sure if it is ignorance or what but something has to be done before someone gets seriously hurt or killed. I was thinking maybe a public campaign to advise people of the laws and remind them that bicyclists have to adhere to the same road laws as drivers but I'm not sure how to get that started.
