Description
Not sure of the address, but where Sammy T's now is, I believe the old Lyric Theatre Building, or build one. MOST Southern cities have old theatre buildings left over from the movie era, they fix them up and they become performance spaces. Rented to the performance arts groups, they would provide 100's of people to downtown attractions, sometimes twice a day with matinee crowds and evening performances by the group. They're already parked, so what would prevent them from walking around the corner and getting something to eat, etc. Another idea: connect the railroad from downtown to Ditto Landing, departure from downtown area, old Depot, run on an hourly schedule, stops along the way at Parkway Place, etc. for shopping. Anothre idea: Cafe tables & sandwich menues/soft drinks around the courthouse up around the building with awnings, weekends only for people to gather. Limited menue wouldn't cut into other restaraunts on the squares business.
Outside performance space, ampitheatre style near the big spring for evening performances by various groups, weekends only.
