Description
Hartford Turnpike in the short block between Davis and Wilton looks like the road out of Kuwait after the bombing. Hamden has been pretty good about patching this strip, but the patches never hold, and the potholes seem to multiply. An eventual repaving may be in order? Meanwhile, patches would be appreciated.
UPDATE 10.10.2011: I finally called Hamden and the worst potholes directly in front of my house were patched. But none of the others on the street, including ones that surprise anyone turning from Davis
onto Hartford Turnpike.
UPDATE 3.1.2012: I leave this because, though as per above the worst potholes were "patched", as that only meant that a bit of gravel with some binder was thrown into the holes, they are now holes again. Serious repair needs to be done, if not the street repaved.

15 days and counting. No sign of Public Works. I also called them a few days ago and the guy was cordial and said they'd see to it . . .
I think something subsurface is going on because the patchings they do come up again pretty quickly, and they are spreading. They may have to redo the paving, not just patch patch patch . . .

So who oversees ClickFix, really? Is the whole thing a ruse? I looked at "Where did this report go?" Ha. Does the "Yale Shuttle Bus Manager" really care about potholes on my street, where Yale buses never venture?
In any event, four weeks after my first report here, and one subsequent report, and then a call to the Town of Hamden street department, the holes are still there, and proliferating.
I've thought of filling the deeper ones with dirt from my yard, just to make the street a bit more passable.
I do understand we're in poor times, and that potholes are a relatively minor nuisance in the grand scheme of things. Well, I suppose ClickFix is somewhat cathartic, even if no one is looking.

@Ben-
We really appreciate you using our site to publicly document these hazardous road conditions in Hamden. We're also sorry to hear your issue has yet to be resolved. While SeeClickFix provides the technology, it's up to citizens like yourself and their local government to collaborate and get things done--holding everyone accountable for improving their environment. Countless communities are improving thanks to the collaborative efforts of citizens, their local government, news organizations, and SeeClickFix.
When (and after) you report an issue, you can view who received email notifications about it by clicking on "Who Sees This Issue?" under the issue number/title. Have you thought about creating a "watch area" for the public works department (or whichever agency handles road hazards) if one doesn't already exist? Watch areas serve as geographic boundaries within which an individual or department will be notified via email anytime an issue is reported or comment is made.
Similarly, have you thought about contacting your local media outlets? New organizations are an important part of the SeeClickFix ecosystem and can assist citizens when it comes to raising awareness about these issues. Oftentimes, media outlets can even lead to the ultimate resolution of reported issues through their news coverage. Please don't hesitate to send any additional inquiries or feedback to contact@SeeClickFix.com!
Cheers,
Megan

The patches in the few holes the town threw a little asphalt into are quickly popping back out, and the rest have not been touched. I don't think anyone there reads ClickFix. Or it appears that Hamden (New Haven is FAR worse) just does not have the resources to tend to potholes. It's late October. There have been SEVEN MONTHS to do the work. The snow and ice are coming again soon . . .
My street is bad, but there are far worse on streets far more traveled. I don't even drive the road through East Rock Park anymore because of multiple deep potholes that can appear too quickly to dodge, especially at night (a friend blew out a tire a few days ago).
Condemned to pothole Hell, I suppose all we can do is drive more slowly.
