Description
This is a problem throughout the City of St. Petersburg on multiple streets including MLK N and 16th St N from 9th Ave to 62nd Ave at all intersections. The school zone signs are not compliant with FDOT and MUTCD standards for height and distance for traffic speeds. Contrary to Mike Frederick's explanation the signs are not in sinking sand as evidenced by other signs that are mounted at proper height and there is nothing obstructing them being placed at the proper distance from the intersections. The signs also violate the MPO resolution on UNIFORM school zones as there are NO flashing signs. In fact being blocks from a school, why are there signs at all? It is signs like this that generate revenue for the SPPD writing 90% of all school zone tickets in the county and more than double all of law enforcement in Hillsborough County according to the DMV in 2013 . . . speed traps not valid school zones.
