Sounds to me like you are both "PART" right. I am a life long resident of this area and know what has been going on. There is some well place prejudice about the local residents of the area and at the same time I will say not all area people are that way. "Dowtown" should have known better than to leave a bike unlocked and think it was safe. This is New Haven after all! On the other side, Joseph take a chill pill because the local residents have earned the reputation they have with the many years of crim they have force on the Yale community.

We need to make this one way to warn folks about the situation on the green.And there has been plenty of reports i see , please heed them (unlike me) ... I thank ClikFlix,it's great and can be better..
I've known about the "green" myself, and know one can lose various belongings. One does grab a cooler and run, sandals,phones, and they do , it happens. I let my guard down and left it unlocked , it wont happen again. But helping onesself to others belongings with no fear of the law or reprisals of any kind should be addressed. That is The New Haven Green after all, not a wilding for junkie,homeless,crack addicted homeless and other hangers on from surrounding areas...It was only for convenience that i stopped in and kicked off my shoes - And to disrespect the vagabond baseheads by not not giving alms or props.....
I'd bet all of those bikes they traverse on are stolen . Some of those bikes are worth twice as much as their 1'st or 3'rd of the month allowance...Oh they're supposed to get jobs with them ??
Maybe a better data base for these reported bikes , they usually get sold but many wind up in the property room at the police dept. - when they have to run from a crime scene and abandon it

You can't touch other peoples belongings. This is the New Haven Green , people should be able to walk in and enjoy it , not worry about the owner of the empty 40 ounce beer bottles and crack wrappers returning to "their bench" and being offended. One does not have to pay the occupiers of that green any alms or park fees to use it .

Oh , thank you. It was strange to visibly see the post then have it disappear.. I know it's a place to just report crimes , but i don't agree that it should be only that. on-line crime reports will just be a stastic, it will reflect the current policy of the police and that's mostly just to answer calls and run to and fro. Reactionary...Maybe i do push the envelope a bit with a touch of ravishing rant..
